What is soy wax?

Soy is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. Harvested soybeans are put through a process of hydrogenation which converts the fatty acids in the soybean oil from unsaturated to saturated. The saturated oil then becomes a solid at room temperature or a “wax.” Since most of the worlds soybean crops are grown right here in the United States, when you buy a soy candle you are helping farmers in states like Illinois, Iowa and Indiana.

What are the benefits of soy wax?

Aside from supporting American farmers, soy wax is completely renewable! As paraffin is a petroleum product, the price increases as global reserves for oil decrease. The only limitation on the supply of soy is how much we choose to grow!

Goblin Shoe soy wax candles will burn more cleanly and slowly than paraffin. As soy has a much lower melt point than paraffin, it won’t evaporate as quickly! The fact that it emits no toxins while burning and produces very little soot, our customers rave about how soy candles don’t trigger their allergies and many say that soy candles are the only candles that they can burn around their asthmatic children. Not to mention they smell better too! You just get a pure, clean smell with no competition. Our soy wax is used to create our wooden wick candles, which produce a relaxing sound and fragrance.

What are reed diffusers?

Oil reed diffusers are all the rage and one of the best alternatives to candles! They scent your space like a candle, but are flameless, allowing you to create a beautifully fragrant environment, with no risk of fire. Each reed diffuser is hand blended with alcohol free oil base to assure fresh and long lasting fragrance for your home. Our trendy recycled Spanish bottles add the perfect touch of class, making an attractive and stylish statement to any room decor. Since absolutely no heat is needed, they are safe for classrooms, offices, nursing homes and residences and last up to 4 months!

How do they work, you ask? An elegant grouping of reeds act as “straws,” with cellular sections that run from top to bottom, pulling the liquid up and dispersing it into the air. To use, simply uncork your GSCC diffuser bottle and immerse the 10 reeds into your fragrance. At first usage, reverse the reeds two to three times to saturate your sticks, and then only when you need to refresh your scent. (Usually every couple of weeks.)

How do I change the cubes when the fragrance evaporates?

Soy wax cubes are amazingly powerful, enjoyable, safe AND easy to clean up.

After the wax cools and hardens, simply pop out of the melter and replace with a fresh scented wax cube. You will appreciate their ability to quickly melt, producing instant aroma cool quickly when melter is turned off. Since they’re made with soy wax, they are water soluble and easy to clean up any residue that may be left behind.

What are tea lights?

Tea lights are meant to be burned in potpourri pots, decorative glasses, or to fragrance small rooms such as laundry rooms, and bathrooms and bedrooms. They are the perfect way to sample fragrances! Tea lights are small and may not scent a large room completely…but their 8 hour burn time will give you a better idea of what fragrance you want in a larger, longer burning candle.

What kind of oils do you use to scent the candles?

GSCC uses synthetic fragrance oils to add scent to the candles, diffusers, tea lights and melting cubes. As essential oils are really a plant’s “juice” they are too watery to add to wax and tend to bind with the wax and so when burned, the essential oils evaporate before they can be released into the air. Fragrance oils are also more cost effective. Some essential oils can sell for over $100.00 per ounce! As GSCC we use only the highest quality fragrance oils to scent our wax, ensuring a pleasing, clean aroma and quality burn.
